Gaza Civil Defense Recovers 112 Bodies from One Family’s Destroyed Homes in Sabra

The Gaza Civil Defense has recovered the bodies of 112 victims from the rubble of a residential block belonging to a single family in the Sabra area of southern Gaza, according to officials involved in the rescue operation. The discovery followed nearly two weeks of intensive search efforts after the neighborhood was devastated during an Israeli military strike.

Civil defense spokespersons said the destroyed residential block belonged to the Al-Hasayneh family. Rescue teams began searching the site shortly after access became possible, working continuously despite limited resources and extremely hazardous conditions. The operation lasted around 136 hours before the bodies and human remains were successfully recovered.

Among the recovered victims were 40 children, 38 women, and seven people with disabilities. Officials described the recovery mission as one of the most challenging operations conducted in recent weeks due to the scale of destruction and the condition of the collapsed buildings.

Colonel Mohammed Abu Dan, who supervised the rescue mission, said authorities believe another 157 bodies may still be trapped beneath the debris. However, rescue crews have been unable to reach those areas because of the massive amount of rubble and the shortage of heavy equipment.

According to Abu Dan, many rescuers had to dig through the collapsed structures by hand. Some remains were found trapped beneath reinforced concrete and twisted steel, making the recovery process slow and physically demanding.

The rescue official also stated that the force of the explosions had severely damaged many bodies, with some remains reportedly burned or difficult to identify. He claimed the level of destruction raises concerns that require further international investigation, although no independent verification has been publicly confirmed.
