Nadra Makes Proof of Life Certificate Free for Pensioners

The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has made the Nadra Proof of Life Certificate free for pensioners across Pakistan. The authority has also expanded access to the document through several service channels.

The initiative was launched on Friday on the special directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. It was introduced in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defence, Controller General of Accounts and Military Accountant General.

The Proof of Life Certificate confirms that a pensioner is alive. Nadra said eligible pensioners can now obtain the certificate digitally through the PakID mobile application without visiting a registration centre.

An immediate family member can also apply for the certificate on behalf of a pensioner through their own PakID account. The service remains subject to the required identity verification process.

For pensioners who prefer in-person assistance, the Nadra Proof of Life Certificate is available free at more than 5,000 e-Sahulat franchises, over 988 Nadra Registration Centres and 500 Union Councils. Preferential service will also be provided at these locations.

Nadra has also introduced mobile registration vans, biker services and ManPack registration services for pensioners who face difficulties travelling to service points. The authority has established a National Pensioners Register to improve digital identity and life-status verification.

The new system will allow authorised banks to verify proof-of-life status digitally, while pension controllers can receive updates about relevant changes. Nadra said the initiative aims to reduce repeated paperwork and physical verification and will eventually be expanded to more pensioners across public and private institutions.
