Barrister Gohar on Sohail Afridi drew attention on Wednesday after the PTI chairman dismissed reports suggesting that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi could be replaced. He said such claims were being spread to create misunderstandings among the public and insisted the chief minister continued to enjoy the support of party lawmakers.
Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Barrister Gohar acknowledged that complaints had been raised regarding the recruitment of doctors in the province. However, he said the provincial health minister had informed him that the hiring process was conducted transparently and in accordance with established procedures.
The PTI chairman also defended the provincial government’s financial planning, saying the party had presented a strong and public-friendly budget. He argued that rumors about replacing the chief minister were aimed at creating unnecessary uncertainty despite the government’s ongoing work.
Addressing reports of internal divisions, Barrister Gohar stated that Sohail Afridi continued to have the backing of PTI members. He acknowledged that differences of opinion exist within the party but emphasized that no organized bloc had been formed against the chief minister.
Commenting on former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Gohar said Gandapur had resigned earlier on the instructions of PTI founder Imran Khan. He added that Gandapur was not taking any steps that could harm the party’s interests or weaken its political position.
The remarks come amid continued political discussion over PTI’s leadership and governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Party leaders have repeatedly sought to downplay reports of internal disagreements while emphasizing unity within the provincial administration.
The latest statement by Barrister Gohar on Sohail Afridi signals the party’s effort to reject speculation surrounding the provincial leadership. PTI leaders maintain that while internal discussions are part of any political party, there is no decision to replace the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister.
