FIFA President Gianni Infantino has announced the withdrawal of the FIFA Forward Enterprise Plan, stating that the proposal had become a source of division within the football community. He said the decision was taken in the best interests of the sport after consultations with FIFA’s member associations.
In an official statement, Infantino explained that the initiative no longer enjoyed the level of unity required for implementation. According to him, football’s global governing body remains committed to promoting cooperation and maintaining harmony among its members.
The FIFA president noted that the proposed plan was dependent on the support of a majority of FIFA’s member nations. Following extensive discussions and feedback from stakeholders, FIFA decided not to move forward with the initiative.
Infantino emphasized that FIFA’s primary objective has always been to strengthen unity and contribute to the long-term development of football worldwide. He said the organization would continue engaging with all relevant parties to identify solutions that benefit the global football community.
He also reaffirmed FIFA’s commitment to supporting football development in countries that require greater investment and assistance. Development programs aimed at improving infrastructure, coaching, and grassroots football will remain an important part of FIFA’s long-term strategy.
According to the statement, the FIFA Forward Enterprise Plan has now been officially withdrawn, and no further work or discussions related to the proposal will continue under its current framework.
