France has called on the United States to exert pressure on Israel to halt its ongoing military operations in Lebanon amid rising regional tensions linked to the Israel Lebanon Conflict.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said that Israel’s continued strikes in southern Lebanon are contributing to instability in the region and require urgent diplomatic intervention.
Speaking to a French media outlet, Barrot urged Washington to use its influence over Israel to prevent further escalation and to support efforts aimed at restoring stability in Lebanon.
He also said France is working to organize an international conference to mobilize global assistance for the Lebanese armed forces. The initiative aims to strengthen Lebanon’s state institutions and improve security coordination in the country.
The statement comes as Israeli forces continue operations targeting Hezbollah positions and infrastructure in southern Lebanon, despite international calls for restraint. The ongoing clashes have heightened concerns about a broader regional escalation.
Barrot also noted that France will not support lifting United Nations sanctions on Iran unless progress in nuclear negotiations aligns with expectations. He emphasized that diplomatic developments must ensure regional security and compliance with international frameworks.
The remarks reflect growing European concern over the widening scope of the Israel Lebanon Conflict, as global powers seek to prevent further deterioration of the security situation in the Middle East.
