Hamas Says Ready to Implement Gaza Peace Plan

Hamas has reaffirmed its readiness to move forward with the Gaza peace plan backed by the United States, while calling on Washington to pressure Israel to implement the proposed agreement. The latest dispute has created uncertainty over the next stage of the process.

A Hamas official said the group and other Palestinian factions had informed mediators that they were prepared to begin implementing the agreement and move into its second phase. However, the official said progress depended on Israeli approval and the start of implementation by Israel.

Under the proposed Gaza peace plan, Hamas would hand over its weapons to an emerging Palestinian governing committee in the territory. The arrangement would also involve Israeli forces carrying out a phased withdrawal from parts of Gaza.

Hamas urged the US administration to exert pressure on Israel and ensure that it complies with the agreement. The group said implementation of the next phase could move ahead if Israel approves the proposal and begins fulfilling its commitments.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, however, has said Israel did not agree to the latest draft presented by the Board of Peace. His position has complicated efforts to advance the plan, particularly over disagreements about Hamas disarmament and the timing of an Israeli withdrawal.

US President Donald Trump had previously described Hamas’s reported acceptance of disarmament as a breakthrough. However, following a meeting with Netanyahu, the Board of Peace’s Gaza representative Nickolay Mladenov said Israel would withdraw only after Hamas had been fully disarmed.

Israeli military operations in Gaza have continued, although reports indicate their intensity has decreased in recent days. The latest developments leave the Gaza peace plan facing a major deadlock, with Hamas seeking implementation while Israel continues to dispute key terms related to disarmament and withdrawal.
