Authorities in Karachi have put comprehensive security arrangements in place for the central 8th Muharram procession to ensure public safety and maintain law and order during the religious gathering.
The procession began from Nishtar Park and is scheduled to follow its traditional route through various parts of the city before concluding at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar. Large numbers of mourners are expected to participate in the event.
To safeguard the procession, police have deployed extensive security personnel along the designated route. Checkpoints have been established at key locations, while monitoring teams are overseeing security operations throughout the day.
According to police officials, several roads and streets around Saddar, Regal Chowk, and adjoining areas have been closed to traffic. Authorities have also sealed shops and commercial establishments located along the procession route as part of precautionary security measures.
Traffic police have announced the closure of M.A. Jinnah Road for regular traffic during the procession. Commuters have been advised to use alternative routes and follow traffic updates to avoid inconvenience and delays.
Meanwhile, mobile phone services have been affected in areas surrounding the procession route and nearby neighborhoods. The temporary disruption has caused communication difficulties for residents and commuters moving through the affected zones.
