Journalist Shyam Meera Singh Alleges Assault by Police Amid Communal Tensions

A reported incident involving allegations of religious impersonation, communal provocation, and police misconduct has drawn attention after journalist Shyam Meera Singh attempted to cover the matter. According to accounts shared about the incident, a man wearing a skullcap was accused of making inflammatory remarks against Hindus while allegedly attempting to present himself as a Muslim.

People present at the scene reportedly claimed that the man was Hindu and accused him of disguising his religious identity to spread hatred. However, these claims have not been independently verified, and the circumstances surrounding the incident require further investigation.

Journalist Shyam Meera Singh reportedly arrived to cover the incident and document what had happened. During his reporting, members associated with the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal allegedly attempted to prevent him from carrying out his journalistic duties.

According to the account, Singh sought protection from the police amid the developing confrontation. However, instead of receiving the assistance he had requested, the journalist allegedly faced an attempt by police personnel to take him into custody. The circumstances leading to this alleged action remain unclear.

Singh further claimed that a police officer struck him three times with a baton while he was on a bus. The allegation raises concerns about the treatment of journalists covering sensitive communal incidents and the importance of ensuring their safety while they perform their professional responsibilities.
