The K2 cargo plane crash investigation has entered a significant stage after details of the communication between the aircraft and Karachi Air Traffic Control (ATC) emerged. The cargo aircraft crashed into the Arabian Sea on July 7, 2026, prompting an extensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
According to available information, contact between K2 Airways Flight KTA-1732 and Karachi Air Traffic Control was lost while the aircraft was operating within Karachi’s airspace. Following the loss of communication, aviation authorities activated the emergency response plan and initiated search and investigation procedures.
Records indicate that at approximately 16:17 UTC, the aircraft’s captain informed Karachi ATC that the flight was experiencing a navigation system malfunction. The pilot requested radar vectoring, a procedure in which air traffic controllers provide directional guidance to help aircraft navigate safely when onboard navigation systems are compromised.
During the same communication, the captain also reported that the aircraft was rolling, indicating an abnormal flight condition that may have affected the aircraft’s stability. Shortly after this transmission, communication with the aircraft was lost, and authorities later confirmed that the cargo plane had crashed into the Arabian Sea.
The aircraft was carrying five crew members, including Captain Muhammad Rizwan Idris, First Officer Faisal Mehmood, Loadmaster Muhammad Toufiq, Engineer Arif Siddiqui, and Muhammad Hamid. Officials confirmed that all crew members were residents of Karachi.
Aviation investigators are reviewing flight data, communication records, maintenance history, and operational procedures to determine the exact cause of the accident. Authorities have not yet released any final findings, and the investigation remains ongoing.
