Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that efforts are underway to resume work on Karachi’s Red Line project within the next 48 hours.
Speaking on a private TV program, he acknowledged that the Red Line project has caused inconvenience to the public, making it one of the most challenging infrastructure projects in the city.
He said that the provincial government had repeatedly warned both Lot 1 and Lot 2 contractors to complete work on time, but concerns persisted over poor performance and delays.
According to him, the contract for Lot 2 was terminated due to unsatisfactory progress and lack of proper execution on the project site.
Sharjeel Memon stated that the decision was taken in consultation with the Asian Development Bank to ensure transparency and better project management.
He emphasized that the Sindh government is fully committed to completing the Red Line corridor as soon as possible for the benefit of citizens.
In addition, he expressed satisfaction over the progress of Shahrah-e-Bhutto, stating that the project is moving according to plan.
He further announced that Shahrah-e-Bhutto will be fully opened for the public next month, providing a major relief to commuters in Karachi.
