Last Total Solar Eclipse of 2026 to Take Place This Month

The total solar eclipse August 2026 will be the final solar eclipse of the year, with skywatchers in several parts of the world set to witness the rare celestial event. However, the eclipse will not be visible in Pakistan.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the eclipse will begin at 8:34 PM (Pakistan Standard Time) on August 12, reach its maximum phase at 10:46 PM, and conclude at 12:58 AM on August 13.

The PMD said the total solar eclipse will be visible in Greenland, Iceland, Spain, and Russia, where observers will experience complete coverage of the Sun by the Moon.

Meanwhile, people in parts of Europe, Africa, and North America will be able to observe a partial solar eclipse, depending on their location.

Although the astronomical event will not be visible from Pakistan, astronomy enthusiasts can follow the eclipse through live broadcasts and observatory coverage available from international space agencies and scientific organizations.

The Meteorological Department also announced that a partial lunar eclipse will occur on August 28, but it will also not be visible in Pakistan.

Astronomers note that solar and lunar eclipses are natural celestial events that occur when the Earth, Moon, and Sun align in specific positions during their orbital motion.
