Mohsin Naqvi Iran visit

Naqvi Arrives in Iran for US-Iran Peace Efforts

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Tehran on Tuesday as Pakistan stepped up diplomatic efforts to help ease the ongoing US-Iran standoff. The Mohsin Naqvi Iran visit is expected to include key meetings with senior Iranian officials.

Naqvi’s visit comes a day after Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar spoke by telephone with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi. The two officials discussed recent regional security developments and the newly signed Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.

During his stay in Tehran, Naqvi is expected to meet senior Iranian leaders and officials. Discussions are likely to focus on regional tensions and diplomatic options for resolving outstanding issues between Washington and Tehran.

The Mohsin Naqvi Iran visit comes as diplomatic efforts continue to reduce tensions and create space for dialogue between the United States and Iran. Pakistan has remained engaged with both sides amid the broader regional crisis.

Pakistan’s Defence Minister has also said that the United States and Iran may be moving closer to an arrangement. According to Reuters, he told Bloomberg that recent signals suggested the two sides were approaching a possible peace arrangement or deal.

Earlier, formal US-Iran talks had stalled after Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said negotiations were not a priority for Tehran at that stage. Iran said it needed to address its internal issues before giving greater attention to negotiations with Washington.

The first round of talks, described as the “Islamabad Talks”, was held in Islamabad in April, with US and Iranian representatives taking part and Pakistan hosting the negotiations. Although the sides did not reach an agreement, the Mohsin Naqvi Iran visit reflects continued efforts to keep diplomatic channels open and pursue a peaceful resolution.
