The Foreign Office has clarified that no Afghan citizen holding a valid visa or legal travel documents has been expelled from Pakistan. The statement came amid discussions surrounding Pakistan’s ongoing immigration measures and the status of Afghan nationals residing in the country.
During the weekly press briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Taher Andrabi said that Pakistan’s policy remains focused on legal procedures and humanitarian considerations. He stated that individuals with valid documentation have not been targeted under the country’s deportation measures.
Providing details about the ongoing review process, the spokesperson said that cases of approximately 89,000 Afghan citizens are currently being processed under the Illegal Foreigners Repatriation Plan (IFPR). He added that each case is being handled according to established procedures.
Taher Andrabi further explained that Pakistan has extended the stay of nearly 16,000 Afghan women, children, and elderly individuals on humanitarian grounds. He said the decision reflects Pakistan’s consideration of vulnerable groups while managing migration-related matters.
The Foreign Office spokesperson also addressed reports regarding an incident near border areas close to Chitral. He said there was currently no confirmed information available about the reported incident and stressed that claims coming from Afghanistan require verification at the ground level.
