Pakistan Increases Petroleum Levy on Petrol and Diesel

The government has announced an increase in the Petroleum Levy on both petrol and high-speed diesel while keeping retail fuel prices unchanged for the upcoming week. The revised levy rates came into effect as part of the government’s latest fiscal measures.

According to sources in the Petroleum Division, the petroleum levy on high-speed diesel has been increased by Rs. 6.57 per litre. Following the revision, the total levy on diesel now stands at Rs. 79.54 per litre, reflecting a significant increase in government taxation on the fuel.

The levy on petrol has also been revised upward by Rs. 0.39 per litre. As a result, the total petroleum levy on petrol has reached Rs. 66.64 per litre. Despite the adjustment in taxes, consumers will continue to pay the same retail fuel price during the current pricing period.

Meanwhile, the government has decided to maintain the petroleum levy on kerosene oil at Rs. 20.36 per litre, with no changes announced for this fuel category.

Officials have confirmed that petrol and diesel prices will remain unchanged for the next week despite the increase in levy rates. The decision reflects the government’s effort to balance fiscal revenue while avoiding an immediate rise in fuel prices for consumers.
