Pakistan Iran trade prospects remain closely linked to the easing of international sanctions on Tehran, according to the Foreign Office. Islamabad expressed optimism about ongoing technical talks between Iran and the United States and said progress in economic cooperation could accelerate if negotiations produce positive outcomes.
Speaking at a weekly media briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said discussions between Iran and the US had already opened a pathway toward sanctions relief. He described the diplomatic process as encouraging and expressed hope that future negotiations would help create conditions for stronger regional economic engagement.
The spokesperson confirmed that technical-level talks between Tehran and Washington had experienced a temporary pause but were expected to resume next Tuesday. He noted that the continuation of dialogue itself was a positive sign and reflected a willingness by both sides to pursue diplomatic solutions.
Discussing the Strait of Hormuz situation, Andrabi said tensions in the region could gradually ease if diplomatic efforts continued to make progress. However, he cautioned that a full return to normal operations in the strategically important waterway might take time because of operational and security considerations.
Pakistan Iran trade cooperation was also discussed during the recent visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. According to the Foreign Office, both countries reviewed opportunities for expanding trade, investment, and broader economic collaboration. Officials believe future economic projects could move forward alongside the removal of sanctions.
On regional issues, Pakistan reiterated its position regarding Afghanistan, stressing that Afghan territory should not be used for terrorist activities against Pakistan. Andrabi said Islamabad remained committed to diplomatic engagement while expecting Kabul to fulfill its commitments under international law and regional agreements.
The spokesperson also highlighted Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue among regional and international stakeholders. He said Islamabad would continue supporting peace initiatives, economic cooperation, and diplomatic engagement. Pakistan Iran trade remains a key area of interest, with both countries looking toward greater economic integration if sanctions-related barriers are reduced in the coming months.
