Pakistan and Sri Lanka have officially begun a Pakistan Sri Lanka counter terrorism exercise, marking a new phase in bilateral military cooperation aimed at strengthening operational coordination and counter-terrorism capabilities.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two-week-long exercise titled “Shake Hands-II” commenced at Tarbela with participation from Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group and Sri Lankan Special Forces.
The Pakistan Sri Lanka counter terrorism exercise is designed to improve joint training, enhance professional skills, and promote better understanding between the armed forces of both friendly nations.
Military officials said the exercise will focus on sharing operational experiences, improving tactical responses, and strengthening interoperability in modern counter-terrorism scenarios.
The ISPR highlighted that the Pakistan Sri Lanka counter terrorism exercise reflects the long-standing defense cooperation between the two countries and their shared commitment to regional peace and stability.
Troops from both sides will engage in advanced training drills over the two-week period, focusing on real-time battlefield coordination and counter-insurgency techniques.
This exercise follows a series of similar joint military engagements conducted by Pakistan with friendly countries, reflecting Islamabad’s growing focus on international defense collaboration and training partnerships.
