The PCB Red-Ball Camp has been expanded with the addition of three more players as Pakistan Cricket Board continues preparations for upcoming long-format assignments. Abdullah Shafique, Kamran Ghulam, and Hamza Nazar have joined the ongoing training camp being conducted under the supervision of the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.
According to the Pakistan Cricket Board, the camp is focused on improving players’ performance in red-ball cricket through specialized training sessions and scenario-based practice matches. The initiative aims to prepare players for the demands of Test cricket and strengthen the national talent pool.
The newly included players will participate in training activities at the LCCA Ground, where cricketers are taking part in match simulations designed to replicate different game situations. Coaches are closely monitoring performances to assess players’ adaptability and decision-making skills.
As part of the PCB Red-Ball Camp, batters and bowlers are being assigned specific objectives during practice matches. Batters are required to tackle various match scenarios, while bowlers are working on executing strategic plans under different conditions.
Meanwhile, young batter Shahzaib Khan has been included in the white-ball camp instead of the red-ball setup. The move reflects the board’s efforts to develop players according to their strengths and future roles in different formats of the game.
Reports suggest that recent additions to the PCB Red-Ball Camp are linked to fitness concerns involving some senior players. Sources indicate that Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan are currently dealing with fitness-related issues, prompting selectors to broaden the pool of available players.
The ongoing camp is expected to provide valuable insights for coaches and selectors as they evaluate players ahead of future international commitments. With increased competition and focused training, the PCB hopes to build a stronger and more versatile red-ball squad.
