Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has laid the foundation stone of the Peshawar Ring Road PDA Toll Plaza Hayatabad Underpass Project, marking another step toward improving the city’s transport infrastructure and easing traffic congestion.
Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony, the chief minister announced that the underpass project will consist of two lanes and will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs1.6 billion. He said the initiative is designed to facilitate smoother traffic flow and provide better connectivity for commuters traveling through one of Peshawar’s busiest routes.
Sohail Afridi highlighted the provincial government’s commitment to modernizing urban infrastructure and addressing long-standing transportation challenges. He noted that the project is expected to improve mobility for residents and reduce travel delays in the area.
The chief minister also spoke about the broader development strategy for the provincial capital, revealing that the Rs200 billion Peshawar Revival Program has been finalized after extensive consultations with all relevant stakeholders.
According to Afridi, the program includes a range of development and infrastructure projects aimed at transforming Peshawar into a more modern, efficient, and sustainable city. He emphasized that public input and expert recommendations were considered during the planning process.
He further stated that the government is making every effort to ensure that all projects included in the revival plan are launched on schedule and completed within the designated timelines. Timely execution, he said, remains a top priority for the provincial administration.
