Private Sector Loans Pakistan reached their highest level in four years during fiscal year 2025-26, according to Finance Adviser Khurram Shehzad. He said private businesses received Rs11.38 trillion in financing, reflecting growing economic activity and improved confidence in the country’s financial sector.
Khurram Shehzad stated that lending to the private sector increased by nearly 15 percent compared with the previous fiscal year. He described the rise as a positive indicator of stronger business sentiment and expanding access to financial resources for productive investment.
According to the finance adviser, government policies have focused on supporting productive sectors of the economy through increased financial assistance. Around 89 percent of new loans were directed toward manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, and agriculture, sectors considered essential for sustainable economic growth.
He highlighted that the manufacturing sector alone received Rs657 billion in new financing. The increased lending, he said, reflects expanding industrial activity, higher production capacity, and continued investment in Pakistan’s manufacturing base.
Khurram Shehzad added that greater financial support for the trade and agriculture sectors has contributed to higher production, stronger commercial activity, and increased private investment. These developments, he noted, are expected to strengthen overall economic performance.
Economic analysts say higher levels of private sector financing can help stimulate industrial output, employment, exports, and long-term investment. However, they also emphasize the importance of ensuring that borrowed funds are used efficiently to generate sustainable economic returns.
