PSX Jumps Over 1,500 Points as Banking and Energy Stocks Lead Rally

The PSX jumps over 1,500 points on Monday as broad-based buying across key sectors lifted investor sentiment at the start of the trading week. The benchmark KSE-100 Index maintained strong upward momentum throughout the session, driven by gains in banking, energy, cement and automobile stocks, reflecting continued confidence in Pakistan’s equity market.

Trading opened on a positive note and buying activity remained strong throughout the day. The KSE-100 Index touched an intraday high of 187,328.50, highlighting sustained demand from investors. Early in the session, the benchmark index had already gained nearly 1,000 points before extending its rally further during afternoon trading.

By 1:44pm, the KSE-100 Index was trading at 186,950.90, up 1,578.70 points or 0.85% compared with the previous close of 185,372.20. During the trading session, the market fluctuated between an intraday low of 185,910.38 and the day’s high of 187,328.50.

The rally was supported by strong buying in commercial banks, oil and gas exploration companies, oil marketing companies (OMCs), refineries, cement manufacturers, fertiliser firms and automobile assemblers. Gains across multiple sectors provided broad-based support and strengthened overall market performance.

Market activity also remained healthy, with traded volume reaching approximately 241.16 million shares. The total value of shares traded stood at around Rs23.92 billion, indicating active participation from both institutional and retail investors.

Analysts attributed the positive momentum to improving investor confidence, continued institutional buying and optimism surrounding Pakistan’s macroeconomic outlook. Expectations of greater economic stability and stronger corporate earnings also helped sustain buying interest in heavyweight stocks.

The PSX jumps over 1,500 points as investors continue to respond positively to improving market conditions. If favourable economic indicators and corporate performance persist, analysts believe the stock market could maintain its positive trend in the coming sessions.
