Karachi: The Sindh government has decided to expand public transport facilities across the province, with several new initiatives being discussed to provide citizens with better and more accessible travel options.
A meeting chaired by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon reviewed the expansion of the Peoples Bus Service, the introduction of double-decker buses, the EV Taxi Service, Pink Scooties and the progress of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects.
During the briefing, officials said that the Peoples Bus Service would soon be launched on the Qambar Shahdadkot-Larkana route. The move is expected to improve connectivity between the two cities and provide residents with a more reliable public transport option.
Officials also briefed the meeting on the arrival and operational arrangements for double-decker buses. The necessary preparations are reportedly being finalized before the service becomes operational.
The proposed EV Taxi Service was another major topic of discussion. The meeting reviewed its operational model as well as the steps required to launch the service. The initiative is expected to introduce a more modern and environmentally friendly transport option for people in Sindh.
Sharjeel Memon directed the relevant authorities to complete all arrangements for launching bus services on new routes within the scheduled timeframe. He said the expansion of the Peoples Bus Service was aimed at improving public transportation facilities and making travel easier for citizens.
The senior minister also announced that Pink Scooties would be distributed in Mirpurkhas on September 5. The initiative is part of the provincial government’s efforts to promote accessible mobility and provide additional transportation options.
