LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to equip field monitoring officers of the Suthra Punjab programme with body cameras to improve monitoring and track their activities in the field.
The decision was taken during a review meeting on the performance of the Suthra Punjab programme, chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Officials briefed the meeting on the progress of the province-wide cleanliness initiative and measures being taken to improve monitoring.
According to the briefing, timely payments to Suthra Punjab workers have been completed in most tehsils across the province. Authorities have also started issuing digital challans through Safe City cameras as part of efforts to discourage littering and improve cleanliness in urban areas.
In Lahore, the Anti-Littering Squad used Safe City cameras to issue 2,156 challans against people involved in littering. The authorities have also installed waste bins at 37,852 locations across Punjab to make it easier for citizens to dispose of garbage properly.
The meeting also reviewed complaints regarding poor sanitation and cleanliness in several districts. Following the reported performance issues, managing directors in Kasur, Faisalabad and Okara were removed from their positions.
The government further decided that managing directors removed over poor performance would not be given another posting. The chief minister also directed officials to issue warnings to relevant managing directors over unsatisfactory sanitation conditions.
