The Russia Ukraine aerial strikes intensified overnight as Russian missiles, drones, and guided bombs hit multiple regions across Ukraine, killing at least 12 people and injuring around 90 others, according to Ukrainian authorities. The latest attacks came amid continued military escalation between Moscow and Kyiv.
The southern port city of Odesa suffered some of the heaviest damage after a missile struck a multi-storey residential building, killing three people and injuring six. Regional Governor Oleh Kiper said civilian homes, industrial facilities, port infrastructure, and a gas pipeline were damaged during the attack. He accused Russian forces of deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure.
Russia’s Defense Ministry confirmed carrying out strikes in Odesa but said the targets were facilities linked to fuel storage, cargo logistics, and military equipment production. Moscow maintained that the operation focused on infrastructure supporting Ukraine’s military activities.
Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russia launched two cruise missiles and more than 120 drones during the overnight assault. Air defense systems intercepted or disabled more than four-fifths of the incoming drones, limiting the scale of destruction in several regions.
Elsewhere, two people were killed and ten injured in attacks across the Kharkiv region. In Sumy, guided bomb strikes claimed three lives and left around 30 people injured. Additional attacks in Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk caused further casualties and extensive damage to civilian infrastructure.
Ukraine said it responded by launching drone operations against Russian naval assets in the Black Sea, claiming that around 20 Russian ships were targeted overnight. The claims from both sides could not be independently verified.
The latest Russia Ukraine aerial strikes coincided with the visit of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to Kyiv, where discussions focused on strengthening defense cooperation, supporting Ukraine’s European Union aspirations, and preparing the country for the coming winter. The renewed wave of attacks highlights the continuing intensity of the conflict and its growing humanitarian impact.
