SBP bank holiday July 1

SBP Announces Bank Holiday on July 1 Across Pakistan

The SBP bank holiday July 1 has been officially announced by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), confirming that banks, development financial institutions (DFIs), and microfinance banks across the country will remain closed for public transactions on Wednesday, July 1.

According to the SBP, the bank holiday will apply to all commercial banks, DFIs, and microfinance banks nationwide. While customers will not be able to carry out over-the-counter banking services, employees of these institutions will attend their offices as part of normal working arrangements.

The central bank clarified that the SBP bank holiday July 1 is intended for public transactions only. Routine office work and internal financial operations will continue, ensuring that banking institutions remain operational behind the scenes despite the suspension of customer services.

The announcement means that services such as cash deposits, withdrawals, cheque clearing, and other branch-based transactions will not be available to the public during the holiday. Customers are advised to complete any urgent banking needs before July 1 to avoid inconvenience.

The State Bank also confirmed that development financial institutions and microfinance banks will follow the same schedule. Their branches will remain closed to customers while staff members continue performing administrative and operational duties.

Financial experts advise customers to use digital banking channels such as mobile banking apps, internet banking, and ATMs for eligible transactions during the SBP bank holiday July 1. However, branch-based services requiring staff assistance will remain unavailable.

The SBP has urged customers to plan their financial activities accordingly. Normal public banking services at banks, DFIs, and microfinance banks are expected to resume after the one-day SBP bank holiday July 1, in accordance with the regular working schedule.
