Islamabad: Employees of Pakistan’s Supreme Court will receive a significant financial boost after the approval of a 100% increase in utility allowances. The decision was approved by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, and an official notification has been issued outlining the revised allowance structure.
According to the notification, the enhanced utility allowance will take effect from July 1, 2026. The increase is aimed at helping employees manage rising utility expenses, including electricity and gas costs, amid growing economic pressures.
Under the revised package, employees in Grades 1 to 6 will see their utility allowance rise from PKR 6,000 to PKR 12,000 per month. Similarly, staff members in Grades 7 to 10 will receive PKR 16,000, up from the previous PKR 8,000.
Employees in Grades 11 to 15 will benefit from an increase from PKR 10,000 to PKR 20,000 per month. Grade 16 officers will receive PKR 24,000 instead of PKR 12,000, while Grade 17 officers will see their allowance double from PKR 15,000 to PKR 30,000.
The notification further states that Grade 18 officers will receive PKR 36,000, compared to the previous PKR 18,000. Grade 19 officers will receive PKR 42,000, while Grade 20 officers will be entitled to PKR 48,000 per month following the increase.
For senior officials in Grade 21 and above, the utility allowance has been raised from PKR 30,000 to PKR 60,000 per month. The revised rates reflect a uniform 100% increase across all employee categories within the Supreme Court.
The notification clarifies that the utility allowance covers electricity and gas expenses. Additional expenditures resulting from the increase will be financed through the approved budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year.
