Iran deal signing

Trump Says Iran Deal to Be Signed Today, Iran Cautious

The proposed Iran deal signing has sparked confusion after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that an agreement to end the Middle East conflict would be signed on Sunday, while Iranian officials expressed caution over the timing and denied that any immediate signing was scheduled.

Trump stated in a social media post that the initial framework agreement with Iran would be finalized today, adding that the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened to global shipping once the deal is signed. His remarks suggested that a breakthrough in negotiations was imminent.

However, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei rejected the claim that a signing would take place on Sunday. He said discussions were still ongoing and that while progress had been made, no formal date for signing had been confirmed.

Pakistan, acting as a mediator, also played a key role in the discussions. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said both sides had agreed on a framework and that Islamabad was preparing for an electronic signing ceremony, followed by technical-level negotiations in the coming week.

A U.S. official, while avoiding specific timing details, described the draft agreement as “strong” and “positive,” but acknowledged that negotiations were still sensitive and evolving. The comments reflect ongoing uncertainty surrounding the Iran deal signing process.

The proposed agreement reportedly includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz, easing energy-related restrictions, and future talks on Iran’s nuclear program. However, Iranian officials insist that key details remain unresolved, particularly regarding sanctions and nuclear commitments.

Despite conflicting statements, diplomatic sources suggest that both sides are closer than ever to an initial understanding, though significant political and technical hurdles remain before any formal Iran deal signing can take place.
