CDF Munir Holds High-Level Talks With Erdogan

Chief of Defence Forces CDF Asim Munir met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara during his official visit to Türkiye, underscoring the growing strategic partnership between the two countries. The high-level engagement focused on strengthening defence ties and reinforcing long-standing military cooperation between Islamabad and Ankara.

According to the Turkish Presidency, President Erdogan received CDF Asim Munir at Ankara Airport. The meeting was held behind closed doors and attended by Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz, Chief of the General Staff General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, and National Intelligence Organisation Director Ibrahim Kalin, reflecting the importance of the discussions.

Earlier, CDF Asim Munir was welcomed with a guard of honour presented by a tri-services contingent of the Turkish armed forces. General Bayraktaroglu formally received the Pakistani military chief, marking the start of his official engagements in Türkiye.

The Turkish Embassy in Pakistan said the defence partnership between the two nations continues to deepen through shared strategic objectives, mutual trust, and historic brotherhood. The embassy described bilateral military cooperation as an enduring relationship that continues to expand across multiple areas.

CDF Asim Munir arrived in Türkiye on a two-day official visit, during which he is expected to hold key meetings with the country’s military and political leadership. Pakistani authorities have not yet released an official statement detailing the agenda or outcomes of the visit.

The latest engagement follows a series of high-level defence exchanges between the two countries. Last month, Turkish Land Forces Commander General Metin Tokel visited Pakistan and met CDF Asim Munir to discuss regional security developments and opportunities for closer defence cooperation.

Pakistan and Türkiye have maintained close defence, diplomatic, and strategic relations for decades. Regular military exchanges, joint cooperation, and leadership-level meetings continue to strengthen bilateral ties amid evolving regional security challenges.
