Ukraine strikes Russia intensified on Friday after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukrainian forces carried out long-range drone attacks targeting logistics facilities and an oil installation in Russia’s Moscow and Tambov regions. He said the operations were conducted in response to continued Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure.
In a statement posted on X, Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces successfully struck two major logistics facilities located more than 500 and nearly 700 kilometres from the front line. According to the president, the facilities were used to supply sanctioned components for drone production and navigation equipment.
Zelenskyy also confirmed that Ukrainian forces targeted an oil facility during the operation. He said the strikes formed part of Ukraine’s broader strategy to weaken Russia’s military logistics and reduce its ability to sustain attacks against Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure.
The Ukrainian president added that mid-range strike capabilities were also used against targets in the Sea of Azov, the Black Sea, and Russian-controlled Crimea. He described the missions as part of Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to counter Russian military operations across multiple fronts.
Zelenskyy praised members of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Special Operations Forces, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the country’s military intelligence for what he called their precise coordination in carrying out the attacks.
Russia had not immediately commented on Zelenskyy’s statement, and the reported strikes could not be independently verified. Moscow and Kyiv frequently issue conflicting claims regarding battlefield operations during the ongoing conflict.
The Ukraine strikes Russia campaign has increasingly focused on long-range military, logistics and energy infrastructure, while Russia continues missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities. The conflict remains marked by regular cross-border strikes and competing military claims from both sides.
