Jordan Intercepts Iranian Missiles After US Base Attack

The Iran US conflict widened on Tuesday after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it launched ballistic missiles at a US air base in Jordan. Jordanian authorities said their air defence systems intercepted four missiles, highlighting growing regional tensions as military exchanges between Tehran and Washington continue to intensify.

According to the IRGC, the missiles targeted an American military installation rather than Jordan itself. In a public statement, the group stressed that it held no hostility toward the Jordanian people and said the operation was carried out in response to recent US military actions against Iran. The IRGC also urged Jordanians to call for the removal of American military bases from their country.

Jordan’s armed forces confirmed that four missiles entering its airspace from Iranian territory were intercepted and destroyed. Officials said there were no immediate reports of casualties or property damage, while authorities continued assessing the situation following the incident.

The latest escalation came as the United States completed a third consecutive night of military strikes against Iranian targets. US Central Command said the operation lasted about five hours and was carried out under orders from President Donald Trump, who warned that further military action against Iran would continue if necessary.

Meanwhile, tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz remained high after Washington announced the reinstatement of a naval blockade on Iran and proposed a 20 percent fee on cargo passing through the strategic waterway. Iran rejected the proposal, insisting that it remains the legitimate guardian of the strait and warning against foreign interference.

The conflict also raised fresh concerns over global energy security after reports emerged of attacks on commercial oil tankers in and around the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices climbed as investors reacted to fears of supply disruptions, while international maritime organizations reiterated the importance of protecting freedom of navigation.

The expanding Iran US conflict has increased fears of broader regional instability involving multiple countries across the Middle East. Diplomatic efforts to ease tensions continue, but ongoing military operations, attacks on strategic infrastructure, and disputes over maritime security have heightened concerns about the conflict’s economic and humanitarian consequences.
