President Asif Ali Zardari Approves High Court Judges and Judicial Benefits

President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the appointment of additional judges to several High Courts in Pakistan, along with the confirmation of certain additional judges as permanent members of the judiciary. The decisions were announced by the Presidency through an official statement covering appointments in various superior courts.

According to the announcement, new additional judges have been approved for the Lahore High Court, Sindh High Court and Peshawar High Court. The appointments are part of the latest judicial decisions approved by the president following the relevant constitutional and legal process.

President Zardari has also approved the appointment of additional judges to the Islamabad High Court and Balochistan High Court. In addition, certain additional judges serving in the Lahore High Court and Sindh High Court have been confirmed as permanent judges.

In a separate judicial decision, the president approved measures to bring the salaries, allowances and pensions of Supreme Court judges in line with those available to judges of the Federal Constitutional Court. The move relates to the financial and service-related benefits of judges serving in Pakistan’s superior judiciary.

The president has further approved amendments to the 1997 order concerning leave, pensions and other privileges of High Court judges. The amendments are intended to update provisions governing service benefits and related matters for judges of the High Courts.

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the appointment of Haroon Akhtar as the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Industries and Production. The appointment adds another key figure to the federal government’s advisory structure and places the industries and production sector under his advisory portfolio.
