Imran Khan Healthy but Facing Anxiety, Says Sister

PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan is physically fit but experiencing anxiety linked to prolonged isolation, his sister Dr Uzma Khan said after meeting him during a medical visit at PIMS.

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad alongside his personal physician Dr Faisal Sultan, Uzma said Imran’s blood pressure was normal when she met him. She said his reading was around 120/70 or 120/80.

Uzma claimed that Imran repeatedly complained of what he described as serious injustice during his imprisonment. She said he also spoke about difficulties he had faced over the past 10 months.

According to his sister, Imran complained about limited access to television and reading material and had previously raised health concerns with prison doctors. She said his anxiety was mainly linked to prolonged isolation.

Uzma also said Imran referred to former Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi and expressed concerns about facing a similar situation. She further alleged that his wife, Bushra Bibi, was also being kept in isolation.

Regarding the medical visit, Uzma claimed Imran did not undergo blood tests at PIMS and was given an eye injection. She said he was later informed that he would be taken to Shifa International Hospital for a more comprehensive medical examination.

The claims come amid differing accounts of Imran Khan health. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said Imran underwent a detailed assessment at PIMS with doctors from Shifa International Hospital and was found to be in good health. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan also questioned the hospital transfer and said the Supreme Court’s direction had been clear.
