Punjab Announces Free Wheat Bags Worth Rs6 Billion for Farmers

The Punjab government has announced major relief for farmers under a new support package aimed at strengthening agricultural productivity, marking a significant step in Punjab wheat farmers support initiatives across the province.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that wheat growers will be provided free procurement bags worth Rs6 billion. Under this plan, registered farmers will receive 10 bags per acre from designated procurement centers, enhancing Punjab wheat farmers support efforts.

The chief minister also directed that wheat be purchased from farmers at Rs3,500 per maund, ensuring immediate relief during the harvest season. This decision is part of broader Punjab wheat farmers support policies focused on stabilizing farm income.

A key requirement of the new policy is that farmers must be paid within 72 hours of wheat procurement. Strategic management committees at provincial and divisional levels will monitor implementation, strengthening Punjab wheat farmers support mechanisms.

During a high-level meeting, it was also decided that priority would be given to Kisan Card holders for wheat procurement. Officials highlighted that the program has already facilitated record-level agricultural financing under Punjab wheat farmers support schemes.

The government also announced internship opportunities under a new “Work with Punjab Government” program, targeting agriculture graduates and skilled youth to modernize the sector as part of Punjab wheat farmers support reforms.

Officials further noted that agricultural mechanization and initiatives like the Green Tractor Scheme are boosting local industry, with thousands of tractors already distributed, reinforcing long-term Punjab wheat farmers support strategies.
