Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei Appoints Six Senior Military Commanders

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has announced the appointment of six senior military commanders to key positions within the country’s armed forces, according to Iranian media reports. The latest appointments reportedly affect the General Staff, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Basij forces.

According to reports, Ahmad Vahidi has been promoted to the rank of major general and appointed commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Mustafa Izadi has reportedly been named as his deputy as part of the latest changes in Iran’s military leadership.

The reported appointments also include Rear Admiral Ali Azmaei, who has been named commander of the IRGC Navy. Meanwhile, Hossein Taeb has reportedly been appointed to lead the Basij Force, one of Iran’s major paramilitary organizations.

In another key change, Major General Ali Abdollahi has been appointed head of Iran’s armed forces, according to the reports. Brigadier General Keyumars Heidari has reportedly been selected as his deputy.

The appointments come as Iran reshapes its senior military leadership structure, with several prominent figures being assigned to important command positions. The reported changes involve some of the country’s most significant military and security institutions.

Mojtaba Khamenei has also reportedly made changes to his advisory and national security team. Mohammad Bagher Zolqadr has been appointed as the Supreme Leader’s political adviser, while Dr. Mohsen Rezaei has reportedly been designated as his representative at the Supreme National Security Council.
