Maryam Nawaz Corruption Statement

Maryam Nawaz Vows to Resign If Even One Rupee of Corruption Is Proven

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has vowed to resign from her position if even a single rupee of corruption is proven against her, reiterating her government’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

Addressing a ceremony in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz highlighted the importance of maintaining a peaceful environment for economic growth and attracting investment. She said that continuous protests and acts of vandalism create difficulties for hardworking people and negatively affect business activities.

The Punjab chief minister stressed that a secure and stable environment is essential for attracting investors. According to her, economic development cannot move forward effectively when businesses and workers face repeated disruptions.

Maryam Nawaz also stated that her government was actively pursuing an anti-corruption campaign across Punjab. She said government employees found accepting bribes were being dismissed from their jobs, adding that eliminating corruption remained a key priority of her administration.

Speaking about Punjab’s economic contribution, she highlighted the province’s significant share in Pakistan’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). She maintained that industrial development and improvements across different sectors were part of the province’s ongoing transformation.

The chief minister further claimed that long-standing illegal occupations, some dating back 25 years, had been removed across Punjab. She also highlighted efforts to eliminate encroachments and create wider, more accessible marketplaces for businesses and the public.
