Pakistan and Bangladesh Sign Historic Anti-Drug Cooperation Agreement

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Bangladesh Interior Minister Salahuddin Ahmed to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in security, counter-narcotics, and law enforcement matters.

During the meeting, both countries signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at combating drug trafficking, illegal narcotics trade, and substance abuse. The agreement was signed by Mohsin Naqvi on behalf of Pakistan and Salahuddin Ahmed on behalf of Bangladesh.

Under the MoU, Pakistan and Bangladesh will cooperate closely to prevent illegal transportation and smuggling of narcotics. The two countries also agreed to launch joint efforts to address the growing trend of drug abuse and its harmful impact on society.

According to officials, law enforcement agencies from both countries will share timely intelligence regarding drug traffickers and organized criminal networks. Joint strategies will also be developed to dismantle illegal drug supply chains more effectively.

The agreement further includes cooperation in personnel training, the use of modern technology, and sharing best practices related to anti-narcotics operations. Both sides emphasized strengthening institutional collaboration between police and security agencies.

During the talks, Mohsin Naqvi offered Bangladesh full support in developing Safe City projects and assured technical and administrative assistance from Pakistan.

The two ministers also discussed enhancing cooperation in counterterrorism, human trafficking prevention, cybercrime investigations, organized crime control, and financial fraud monitoring. Discussions were also held regarding joint training programs for officers at police academies and civil armed forces institutions.
