A Pakistan Navy Rescue Operation successfully saved 19 stranded fishermen after their fishing boat developed an engine fault in the North Arabian Sea. The operation, carried out by PNS Taimur, ensured the safe rescue of all passengers and demonstrated the navy’s commitment to protecting lives at sea through rapid emergency response.
According to official information, the fishing vessel became stranded approximately 120 nautical miles south of Gwadar after experiencing a mechanical failure. The boat was carrying 19 people, including 11 Pakistani nationals and eight Iranian citizens, who were left stranded in open waters while awaiting assistance.
The rescue mission began after the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC) received details of the emergency and requested immediate support from the Pakistan Navy. Responding without delay, PNS Taimur was deployed to the location to conduct a search and rescue operation.
Upon reaching the stranded vessel, Pakistan Navy personnel provided the fishermen with food, drinking water, and medical assistance to ensure their safety and well-being. The crew remained with the passengers while assessing the condition of the disabled boat and planning the safest course of action.
As part of the Pakistan Navy Rescue Operation, naval personnel also secured the damaged fishing vessel. The boat, which was unable to continue its journey because of the engine failure, was safely towed back to shore, preventing further risks to both the crew and the vessel.
The Pakistan Navy regularly conducts maritime security, surveillance, and humanitarian missions across the Arabian Sea. These operations are aimed at protecting fishermen, commercial shipping, and other maritime activities while ensuring a swift response to emergencies within Pakistan’s maritime region.
