Pakistan passport ranking slipped to 101st place in the latest Henley Passport Index, making it the world’s fourth weakest passport, according to the report released on Tuesday. The decline follows a reduction in the number of destinations Pakistani passport holders can access without obtaining a visa in advance.
The Henley Passport Index evaluates 199 passports against 227 travel destinations. Rankings are based on the number of countries and territories that allow visa-free entry, visa-on-arrival, or electronic travel authorization without requiring a traditional visa before departure.
According to the latest index, Pakistani citizens now have access to 29 destinations without obtaining a prior visa, down from 30 destinations in May. As a result, the country’s passport dropped one place from 100th to 101st in the global rankings.
The report noted that Pakistan has remained among the world’s lowest-ranked passports for several years. Despite the latest decline, the passport’s overall position has improved compared with 2021, when it ranked 113th globally. It also ranked 107th in 2021, 109th in 2022 and 100th in both 2023 and 2024 in different editions of the index.
Among the destinations available to Pakistani passport holders are countries offering visa-free entry, visa-on-arrival or electronic travel authorization. However, Cape Verde Islands, Mozambique and Qatar have removed visa-free or visa-on-arrival facilities for Pakistani citizens during this year, reducing overall travel access.
According to the index, only Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan rank below Pakistan. Yemen now stands one position above Pakistan after offering visa-free or simplified entry to a slightly higher number of destinations.
Singapore retained the top position in the latest Henley Passport Index with access to 192 destinations, while Japan, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates shared second place. Sweden ranked third globally. The latest rankings highlight the continuing differences in international travel mobility across countries.
