Pezeshkian Says Iran Will Reciprocate US Deal

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Pezeshkian Iran US deal commitments could lead to an immediate response from Tehran if Washington fulfils its obligations under an interim agreement signed in June. He made the remarks at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Bishkek.

Pezeshkian said Iran remains ready to reciprocate if the United States honours the commitments it made under the agreement. His comments signal that Tehran is still prepared to respond through diplomatic channels if Washington takes the expected steps.

The Iranian president’s statement comes as tensions between Tehran and Washington remain high. Both sides have faced major disagreements over Iran’s nuclear programme, sanctions and broader regional security issues.

According to Iran’s ISNA news agency, Pezeshkian said Tehran would act immediately once the United States meets its commitments. The statement was reported by Reuters, which cited the Iranian news agency.

The comments highlight the importance of the June interim agreement in Iran-US relations. Tehran appears to view fulfilment of the arrangement as a possible path towards reciprocal measures and reduced tensions between the two countries.

The Pezeshkian Iran US deal comments also come during an important regional gathering in Bishkek. The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit brought together leaders and senior officials from several countries to discuss regional and international developments.

For now, the focus remains on whether Washington will fulfil the commitments referenced by Pezeshkian. If that happens, Tehran has indicated that it could respond quickly, potentially opening space for further diplomatic engagement between Iran and the United States.
