A Ziarat police post attack left nine police personnel martyred after heavily armed militants stormed a police checkpoint in the Mangi area of Balochistan. Security forces later launched a large-scale clearance operation, during which officials said 15 militants were killed. Authorities described the incident as one of the deadliest attacks on law enforcement in the district in recent months.
According to Ziarat Superintendent of Police Abdul Qadoos, the attackers opened fire on the police post, triggering an intense exchange of gunfire. Nine police officers and personnel embraced martyrdom during the attack. Their bodies were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for legal formalities and funeral arrangements.
The police official further said that the attackers took five police personnel with them while fleeing the area. Security agencies immediately initiated efforts to recover the abducted officers. Later, Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed that DSP Ghulam Sarwar and eight other police personnel had reached Kach Police Station safely, while Constable Rizwan was also recovered during the operation.
Following the assault, the Frontier Corps, Police, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Special Operations Wing (SOW), and Anti-Terrorism Force (ATF) jointly carried out a clearance operation across the area. According to Shahid Rind, security forces killed 15 militants during the operation and regained control of the affected locality.
Officials stated that those martyred included the station house officers of Mangi and Kawas police stations, the ATF in-charge, and several other police personnel. The provincial government praised the bravery of law enforcement officers, saying they sacrificed their lives while defending public safety and maintaining peace.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the families of the martyred officers. He paid tribute to their sacrifices, stating that those who lay down their lives for peace would always be remembered. He also said such attacks could not undermine Pakistan’s resolve against terrorism.
The Balochistan government reaffirmed that there would be no safe haven for militants in the province. Officials said intelligence-based operations would continue, and every attack on security personnel would receive a decisive response as authorities intensify efforts to eliminate militant networks across the region.
