LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with members of the Pakistan Under-19 cricket team and announced a decision to award central contracts to U19 players for the first time.
During the meeting, Naqvi praised the young cricketers for their impressive performances in England and appreciated their efforts on the tour. He also met the players individually and encouraged them to continue developing their skills.
Pakistan U19 head coach Shahid Anwar said the players were invited to meet the PCB chairman following their strong performances in England. He added that Naqvi personally interacted with the young cricketers and acknowledged their performances.
Naqvi said the introduction of central contracts for U19 players would encourage them to perform at a higher level. He added that rewarding good performances would help increase the confidence of young cricketers and motivate them to focus more closely on their cricket.
Pakistan U19 captain Farhan Yousuf said the development camps organised in Multan over the past two years had proved highly beneficial for the players. According to him, the positive impact of these camps is now becoming visible through the team’s performances.
Farhan Yousuf described the meeting with the PCB chairman and the decision to introduce central contracts as a major source of encouragement for the players. Alyan Salman said the contracts would boost the confidence of young cricketers and allow them to focus more on improving their game.
Jehangir Bilal said central contracts would also help young players provide financial support to their families. Rizwanullah thanked the PCB chairman and the Pakistan Cricket Board, saying the announcement of rewards and central contracts was a major encouragement for young cricketers.
