Pakistan’s PM Shehbaz Sharif Qatar Visit began with the prime minister departing for Doha on a one-day official trip aimed at expressing condolences following the passing of Qatar’s former Emir. The visit also reflects the longstanding diplomatic and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Qatar.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was accompanied by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar. The high-level delegation departed from Islamabad for Qatar to participate in official engagements.
During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to meet Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. According to official information, the meeting will include an expression of condolences to the Emir, the Qatari royal family, and the people of Qatar following the death of the country’s former ruler.
The prime minister will convey sympathy on behalf of the Government and the people of Pakistan. The visit is being viewed as a diplomatic gesture that underscores the close ties and mutual respect shared by the leadership of both countries during times of grief.
Officials say the visit also highlights the decades-long partnership between Pakistan and Qatar, built on cooperation in diplomacy, trade, investment, energy, and the presence of a large Pakistani community living and working in the Gulf state.
The passing of former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani has prompted condolences from leaders around the world. His leadership played a significant role in Qatar’s development and its expanding role in regional and international affairs.
