Iran Claims Missile Strike on US Warship in Hormuz

Strait of Hormuz missile attack reports have escalated tensions in the Gulf after Iranian media claimed that missiles struck a US warship near Jask Island. The incident allegedly occurred as the vessel attempted to enter the strategic waterway.

According to Iran’s Fars news agency, two missiles hit the US warship after it ignored warnings not to enter the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian naval forces reportedly acted to prevent “American-Zionist” warships from accessing the area.

However, the reports have not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate response from the United States. Reuters also noted that the situation remains unclear amid conflicting claims from both sides.

The Strait of Hormuz missile attack allegations come amid rising military tensions in the region. Iran had earlier warned US forces not to enter the key maritime route, which is vital for global oil and gas transportation.

Iranian military officials stated that the security of the Strait of Hormuz is under their control and that any movement of foreign vessels must be coordinated with Iranian armed forces. They also issued warnings of retaliation against any perceived aggression.

In response to the growing crisis, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it is supporting efforts to secure stranded vessels in the Gulf. It deployed thousands of personnel, aircraft, and naval assets as part of ongoing operations in the region.

CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper emphasized that the mission is essential for both regional security and global economic stability, given the importance of uninterrupted maritime trade through the Gulf.

The Strait of Hormuz missile attack claims highlight the increasing volatility in one of the world’s most critical shipping routes, where nearly one-fifth of global oil supplies pass daily.
