Venezuela Earthquake Death Toll Rises Above 3,800

The Venezuela earthquake death toll has continued to rise, highlighting the devastating impact of the powerful twin earthquakes that struck the country nearly two weeks ago. According to the latest official figures, at least 3,889 people have lost their lives, while thousands of families continue to cope with the aftermath of one of the country’s deadliest natural disasters.

The two earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude, hit Venezuela on June 24, triggering widespread destruction across several regions. The powerful tremors caused extensive structural damage, disrupted essential services, and forced emergency authorities to launch large-scale rescue and relief operations.

Officials say nearly 17,000 people have been injured, while around 18,000 residents have been displaced from their homes. Thousands are currently living in temporary shelters as humanitarian agencies continue providing food, clean water, medical care, and emergency supplies.

The coastal state of La Guaira, the hardest-hit area, suffered severe destruction. More than 800 buildings were damaged, including 190 structures that completely collapsed, leaving entire neighborhoods in ruins and significantly complicating rescue and recovery efforts.

Although international and local rescue teams have largely concluded their search for survivors after two weeks, many families are still searching for missing loved ones. Recovery crews remain engaged in debris removal, damage assessment, and efforts to restore essential public services in the affected communities.

The United Nations has launched a $300 million humanitarian appeal to support Venezuela’s recovery and provide assistance to affected communities. At the same time, Venezuelan authorities are negotiating with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and seeking access to frozen financial assets to help finance reconstruction and long-term recovery projects.
