US President Donald Trump sparked fresh controversy after reacting angrily to a female reporter’s question regarding the rising construction cost of a new ballroom at the White House. The incident took place before Trump departed for his official visit to China.
While speaking to journalists, Trump defended the ongoing ballroom project and stated that the size of the hall had been doubled because it was necessary for future events and official functions. He insisted that the expansion was planned carefully and would improve the venue’s overall capacity.
During the media interaction, a female reporter questioned whether the project budget had also doubled due to the increase in size. The question appeared to irritate Trump, who immediately responded by saying, “You are not smart, you are a fool.” His comments quickly attracted attention on social media and political platforms.
Trump further stated that despite the ballroom being significantly larger than originally planned, the construction would still be completed within the approved budget and ahead of schedule. Supporters praised his confidence in the project, while critics described his remarks toward the journalist as inappropriate.
The US president also discussed international matters during the press briefing, particularly relations with China and the ongoing tensions involving Iran. Trump said he expected to hold detailed discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping regarding regional stability and the Iran situation.
However, Trump added that he does not believe the United States requires China’s assistance in dealing with Iran. According to him, Washington remains fully capable of handling the issue independently while continuing diplomatic engagement with global powers.
In addition, Trump once again mentioned Pakistan and praised Field Marshal Asim Munir during the conversation. He described Asim Munir as “an excellent personality” and appreciated Pakistan’s role in diplomatic negotiations, calling the country’s efforts in the negotiation process “outstanding.”
