The PTI long march has moved towards Kohat after participants spent Sunday night in Karak. The march began from southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and has now entered its next stage.
The procession started from Gandi Chowk in Lakki Marwat on Sunday evening. It covered around 80 kilometres before reaching Karak late at night, where participants established a camp at Jail Chowk.
Supporters from Bannu, North Waziristan, South Waziristan, Lakki Marwat, Tank and nearby districts joined the march. Participants from Dera Ismail Khan also joined individually, while caravans from Balochistan entered the procession at Yarik.
A caravan led by former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur could not reach the march on time. Meanwhile, police officials said the procession was expected to leave Karak around noon on Monday.
Mobile phone and mobile internet services have been completely suspended in Karak and surrounding areas. Authorities have taken the measures as part of security and administrative arrangements during the march.
According to the announced schedule, the caravan will spend Monday night at Lachi Ground near Kohat. Participants from Kohat, Hangu, Kurram and Orakzai are expected to join on October 6 before the march moves towards Peshawar.
The march is scheduled to continue through several locations before reaching the next stage of its route. Meanwhile, containers, soil-filled bags and stones have been placed at various points in Attock and Taxila to restrict the march, while security has been tightened.
