Security forces killed nine militants during a Balochistan security operation in Mastung district on Wednesday, according to security sources. The militants were reportedly attempting to attack a security post in the Kank Valley area.
Security sources said the operation began after the militants attempted to target the post in Kank Valley, Mastung. Security personnel responded to the attack and engaged the militants in an exchange of fire.
During the initial action, security forces killed two militants, according to the sources. The remaining militants attempted to escape from the area following the encounter.
Security personnel pursued the fleeing militants as part of the Balochistan security operation. The pursuit continued until seven more militants were killed, bringing the reported death toll from the operation to nine.
The sources said security forces recovered three motorcycles, weapons and ammunition from the militants following the operation. The recovered material was taken into custody for further investigation.
One security personnel was also wounded during the exchange of fire, according to security sources. The injured soldier was taken for medical treatment, while security personnel continued efforts to secure the area.
The Balochistan security operation comes amid continuing security concerns in parts of the province. Authorities have carried out operations against militant groups following attacks on security personnel and other targets, with forces maintaining heightened security in sensitive areas.
