Pakistan and Iran made “significant progress” during talks on the ongoing conflict and possible ways to restore peace, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Tuesday. The Pakistan Iran talks focused on reducing tensions, ending the conflict through negotiations and supporting regional stability. Naqvi made the remarks after accompanying Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on an official visit to Tehran.
The discussions included measures to prevent further escalation and efforts to reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Pakistan’s military said the two sides also examined ways to reach a negotiated settlement and bring the conflict to an early end. Regional peace and the broader security situation were also part of the high-level discussions.
Munir held meetings with senior Iranian political and security officials during the day-long visit. He met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Mohsen Rezaei, the Supreme Leader’s representative on the Supreme National Security Council, and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. He also met Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.
Naqvi said the Iranian president openly presented his government’s position during the discussions. He described the exchange as constructive and said the talks covered the key issues surrounding the conflict. The Pakistan Iran talks formed part of Islamabad’s wider diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and help create conditions for dialogue.

According to Pakistan’s military media wing, Iranian leaders appreciated Pakistan’s mediation efforts and its stated commitment to dialogue, de-escalation and lasting peace. The discussions focused on practical steps that could prevent the situation from worsening and support a diplomatic route toward ending the conflict.
The visit came as tensions remained high over the conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel. US President Donald Trump had warned of economic consequences for countries providing what he described as a lifeline to Iran. Iran, meanwhile, had threatened to halt oil exports from the Gulf, adding to concerns over the regional economic impact of the conflict.
Field Marshal Munir had also spoken with Trump before travelling to Tehran, according to Reuters. Pakistan has continued its diplomatic efforts to address the crisis and promote regional stability. The latest Pakistan Iran talks produced progress on de-escalation, the Strait of Hormuz and a negotiated settlement, although the statement did not provide details of any final agreement.
