KPK Government Announces Purchase of 225,000 Tons of Wheat from Farmers

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a major initiative to purchase 225,000 tons of wheat from local farmers in an effort to support the agricultural sector and stabilize the flour market in the province.

Advisor to the Chief Minister on Finance, Muzammil Aslam, stated that the provincial government will buy wheat at the rate of Rs3,500 per maund using its own financial resources. He added that payments to farmers will be made within 24 hours after the delivery of wheat supplies.

According to Muzammil Aslam, the decision has been taken to protect farmers’ interests and provide them with better financial support during challenging economic conditions. He emphasized that the provincial government is committed to strengthening the agriculture sector and ensuring timely payments to growers.

The announcement comes at a time when Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is facing multiple challenges, including worsening law and order conditions, gas load-shedding, and an ongoing flour crisis. Residents across the province have been struggling with rising prices and shortages of essential commodities.

During a high-level meeting held in Peshawar, Chief Minister Suhail Afridi, opposition leaders, and the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa discussed the current economic and security situation in the province. Participants agreed on the need for a unified strategy to address public concerns.

Chief Minister Suhail Afridi said that prolonged gas shortages and the flour crisis have increased difficulties for the public, while the deteriorating security situation remains a major challenge for the provincial administration. He also urged the federal government to provide the province with its constitutional rights and necessary support.
