The investigation team probing the death of businessman Mir Raza Ali has concluded that Mir Raza murder was the cause of death, ruling out suicide, according to the investigating officer.
Investigating Officer Siraj Lashari told a Karachi court that investigators were clear that the incident involved murder. He said the team had restarted the investigation from the beginning to establish what happened.
Lashari said investigators had collected evidence from multiple angles, with much of the material being digital. He added that analysing the digital evidence remains an important part of the ongoing investigation.
The court was also informed that investigators recovered a spent shell from the crime scene. However, the pistol allegedly used in the incident has not been recovered, while evidence related to the weapon remains under investigation.
The investigating officer further said the final post-mortem and forensic reports were still pending. He said those reports could provide additional information about the circumstances and cause of Mir Raza’s death.
Meanwhile, lawyer Jibran Nasir, representing Mir Raza’s parents, told the Sindh High Court that the family had no objection to a judicial commission. However, he called for broader terms of reference to ensure a comprehensive investigation.
Nasir also questioned whether statements had been recorded from members of the earlier investigation team. He said the Advocate General Sindh had proposed approaching the provincial police chief about forming a joint investigation team. The Mir Raza murder investigation remains ongoing as authorities await key forensic and post-mortem findings.
