Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has once again offered talks to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), saying the government is ready to engage after the party ends its marches and sit-ins. The prime minister made the remarks while addressing an event in Islamabad.
Shehbaz Sharif said the government had worked for two and a half years to strengthen the country’s economy through teamwork and continued efforts. He said macroeconomic stability had been achieved after considerable effort and should be protected.
The prime minister said economic development and public welfare should remain national priorities. He added that the government’s efforts were aimed at building a stronger Pakistan and reflecting what he described as the aspirations of the people.
According to Shehbaz Sharif, previous efforts to make negotiations successful had not produced the desired results. He said the government had tried to resolve political differences through dialogue, but those efforts had not led to an agreement.
The prime minister also warned that continued protests could affect economic activity. He said exports, imports and the manufacturing sector could face difficulties if demonstrations and sit-ins continued during the ongoing development process.
Shehbaz Sharif said protests could affect the country’s economic progress and international reputation. He questioned whether blocking the development process again would serve the national interest and urged PTI to reconsider its protest strategy.
Reiterating his offer, Shehbaz Sharif offers talks to PTI on the condition that marches and sit-ins are brought to an end. His statement comes as political tensions remain high, with the government stressing economic stability while PTI continues its political activities and demands.
